Tomorrow in Brookland: Mayor Bowser to Lead FitDC Walk in Ward 5

(Washington, DC) – On Saturday, July 11 at the Turkey Thicket Recreation Center, Mayor Muriel Bowser, with Ward 5 Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie, Department of Health Director Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt, and Department of Parks and Recreation Director Keith Anderson, will participate in a 1.5-mile walk around the Brookland neighborhood as part of FitDC. FitDC is a mayoral initiative and commitment to a fresh start in health and wellness in Washington, DC. This initiative encourages residents to live a healthier lifestyle by linking them to nutrition and physical fitness resources in their communities, including FitDC coaches designated to each ward who can offer guidance on making healthy lifestyle choices.
In addition, Mayor Bowser will highlight FitDC’s Billion Steps Challenge, a citywide effort that encourages all DC residents to collectively walk one billion steps. For more information, visit www.FitDC.com.
