(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Bowser released the following statement on the passing of former At-Large Councilmember Jerry A. Moore, Jr.:
“I am saddened to learn of the passing of Reverend Dr. Jerry A. Moore, Jr., a leader in the formation of Washington, DC’s self-governance. Moore lived a long life of good in which he earned many titles: Nineteenth Street Baptist Church Pastor, At-Large Councilmember, Conference of Minority Transportation Officials Co-Founder, DC Detention Facility Chaplain, among others.
“When we talk about standing on the shoulders of those who went before us, we are referring to people like Moore – a champion for the District and a devoted source of comfort and support for all who he reached. Today, my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”
