Mayor Bowser to Sign GPS Monitoring Legislation

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Wednesday, Mayor Bowser will join United States Attorney for the District of Columbia Channing Phillips, District of Columbia Attorney General Karl Racine, Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen, Ward 5 Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie, and Interim Chief of Police Peter Newsham to sign GPS monitoring legislation into law. The legislation expands the monitoring agencies and closes a loophole that has previously allowed individuals equipped with electronic monitoring devices to go unpunished after removing, disabling, or otherwise tampering with the device.
