Mayor Bowser to Release the DC Build Back Better Infrastructure Task Force Report, Join DDOT and Regional Partners in Launching Street Smart Campaign

(Washington, DC) – On Thursday, November 17 at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will release the DC Build Back Better Infrastructure Task Force report and present highlights from the recommendations included in the report. The task force, announced by Mayor Bowser in March, is a group of public and private sector leaders responsible for making recommendations on how to maximize the more than $3 billion coming to the District from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The report will update the public on the task force’s work, including 17 project proposals, and will be made available on infrastructure.dc.gov.

At the event, the Mayor will also be joined by representatives from Maryland, Virginia, and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) to kick off the multi-jurisdictional Street Smart initiative, with this year’s Shattered Lives campaign. Street Smart is a regional pedestrian and bicycle traffic safety program that pairs education and enforcement to change behavior. The kickoff will include a testimonial from a crash survivor and remarks from regional partners.
