Mayor Bowser to Launch Police Academy at Anacostia High School and Announce Public Safety Updates

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Thursday, September 15, Mayor Muriel Bowser, DC Public Schools (DCPS) Chancellor Kaya Henderson, and Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Assistant Chief Peter Newsham will launch the Public Safety Academy at Anacostia High School in Ward 8. The Academy will help students pursue a career in public safety. The Mayor will also announce new updates that will expand the MPD cadet program and public safety initiatives.
