Mayor Bowser to Kick-Off Read Across America Day at John Eaton Elementary School
(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Wednesday, March 1 at 9 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will celebrate Read Across America Day with District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) students at John Eaton Elementary School in Ward 3. To honor the birthday of Dr. Seuss and the importance of reading, Mayor Bowser will read to three classes of third grade students and announce the first annual Eaton Book Award.
Hosted by the National Education Association (NEA), DCPS students will join millions of their peers across the country to celebrate the 16th annual Read Across America Day on Thursday, March 2. NEA's Read Across America Day expects more than 45 million readers, both young and old, to pick up a book and read.
