Mayor Bowser to Host Reception Honoring Lamont Peterson

(Washington, DC) – On Tuesday, April 25, at 5:30 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will host a reception to recognize Lamont Peterson as the 2017 World Boxing Association (WBA) Welterweight World Champion, a native of Washington, DC.

A former unified World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight World Champion, Mr. Peterson has been featured on ESPN, NBC, HBO, and Showtime boxing broadcasts. Overcoming adversity in his youth through hard work and dedication, Mr. Peterson was discovered by Barry Hunter, professional boxing trainer for the Headbangers Boxing Team at Bald Eagle Gym in the District.
