Mayor Bowser to Highlight Tips to Avoid “Smash and Grab” Thefts
(Washington, DC) – On Monday, June 19, at 10:30 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will be joined by the Metropolitan Police Department to remind residents of safety tips for vehicles such as removing keys from the ignition, closing windows, locking doors, keeping valuable items out of sight, and issuing mock citations as a friendly notice to follow regulations. The Mayor will also highlight progress in public safety, including decreases in robberies.
As a part of Back to Basics DC, an effort to highlight the day-to-day work that keeps the District moving forward, the Mayor will continue to highlight the work of DC government employees, showcase innovations in service delivery, and share information about how the community can help the government keep Washington, DC a great place to call home.
