Mayor Bowser Congratulates Newly Sworn-in Members of the Council
Your Neighborhood
(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser issued the following statement after the swearing-in ceremony for Councilmembers Robert White, Jr. (At-Large), Christina Henderson (At-Large), Brooke Pinto (Ward 2), Janeese Lewis George (Ward 4), Vincent C. Gray (Ward 7), and Trayon White, Sr. (Ward 8).
“I want to congratulate all the newly elected and re-elected members of the Council of the District of Columbia. We enter 2021 with the hope that a safe and effective vaccine is here and an end to this pandemic is in sight, but also with the knowledge that Washingtonians are struggling and that our community is still vulnerable to this virus. The road ahead is long, but I look forward to working with all the members of the Council to, as we each swear to, represent the District of Columbia – as a whole – without fear or favor. Washingtonians are looking to us to execute an equitable and efficient rollout of the vaccine, to bring our small businesses back to life, to end the gun violence that plagues too many neighborhoods, and to ensure all Washingtonians feel a sense of hope about the future. It is my honor and privilege to serve my hometown alongside the Council, and I am eager to work together on our collective comeback.”
