Mayor Bowser to Break Ground on Edgewood Recreation Center

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Saturday, January 20, at 1:30 pm, Mayor Bowser will break ground on the modernization of Edgewood Recreation Center.

The Edgewood modernization is an $18.4 million project that will include demolishing the existing recreation center and constructing a new facility that will have community rooms, a full-court gymnasium, fitness center, teaching kitchen, teen lounge, and a reading room.

Designed to meet the LEED Gold Certification for an eco-friendly and energy-efficient environment, the renovated facility will also include a natural grass sports field with football and baseball overlays, a community garden, and a rooftop farm.
