Mayor Bowser Appoints John Falcicchio as Interim Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development
(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced the appointment of John Falcicchio as the Interim Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development. Mr. Falcicchio has served as the Mayor’s Chief of Staff since the start of her Administration after volunteering as a campaign advisor and director of Mayor-elect Bowser’s transition. Mr. Falcicchio previously served as a Senior Vice President of DKC, a New York based public relations firm; as a Regional Political Director for the Democratic National Committee during the re-election of President Obama; and as a long-time aide to former Mayor Adrian Fenty.
While Mr. Falcicchio serves dually as Chief of Staff and Interim Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, Karuna Seshasai, currently serving as Deputy General Counsel to the Mayor, will take on additional duties as Special Assistant to the Mayor. Together, Deputy Chief of Staff Tomas Talamante and Ms. Seshasai will assume many of the day-to-day operations of the Executive Office of the Mayor. The search for the next Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development will continue this summer, and those interested in applying are encouraged to do so at mota.dc.gov.
