Mayor Bowser to Announce 2022 Point In Time Count Results and Highlight FY23 Budget Investments

(Washington, DC) – On Thursday, April 21, at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will be joined by the Department of Human Services, the DC Interagency Council on Homelessness, and The Community Partnership for the Prevention of Homelessness to announce the results of the District’s 2022 Point In Time Count and highlight investments in programs and services to make homelessness rare, brief, and nonrecurring. 

Following the speaking portion of the event, Mayor Bowser and Administration officials will welcome a District resident formerly experiencing homelessness into his new home, which is adjacent to the site of the press conference.  

In 2015, Mayor Bowser released Homeward DC, a bold vision and strategic plan to make homelessness rare, brief, and nonrecurring. In 2018, the Mayor made good on her commitment to close DC General, which has been replaced with smaller, service-enriched short-term family housing shelters across DC. In 2021, Mayor Bowser launched Homeward DC 2.0, the District’s updated strategic plan to build on the progress in driving down family homelessness, with a strong focus on realizing similar progress among single adults experiencing homelessness. 

The Mayor’s Fiscal Year 2023 Fair Shot budget includes $31 million in Homeward DC to end chronic homelessness and more than $114 million to replace shelters.
