DPW to Observe Labor Day, Monday, September 4

(WASHINGTON, DC) The DC Department of Public Works (DPW) will observe Labor Day, Monday, September 4; therefore, sanitation services and most parking enforcement will be suspended and will resume on Tuesday, September 5.

Sanitation services will be suspended for the holiday and will resume Tuesday, September 5.

• Sanitation services and most parking enforcement will be suspended.Trash and recycling collections in once-a-week collection neighborhoods will “slide” to the next day for the remainder of the week.
• In twice-a-week collection neighborhoods, Monday’s and Thursday’s collections will slide to Tuesday and Friday. Tuesday’s and Friday’s collections will slide to Wednesday and Saturday.
• Street sweeping will be suspended Monday and resume Tuesday, September 5.

The Fort Totten Transfer Station will be closed Monday, September 4 and reopen Tuesday, September 5 to residents between 1 pm and 5 pm.

DPW will enforce parking restrictions Monday, September 4, in the Nationals Park neighborhood.

Streetcar parking enforcement is daily, including weekends and holidays, e.g., Labor Day, along H Street and Benning Road, NE, between 3rd Street and Oklahoma Avenue, NE. On Sundays and holidays, streetcar parking enforcement is between 8 am and 11 pm. Enforcement on Mondays—Thursdays is 6 am to midnight; and on Fridays and Saturdays, enforcement runs between 6 am and 2 am. Normal enforcement citywide of other parking violations resumes September 5.
