Bowser Administration Shares Better Aging and Best Living Resources With Ward 1 Seniors

Today, the Bowser Administration, together with the Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB) and Councilmember Brianne K. Nadeau, held an Elder Housing Resource Forum at the Bernice Fonteneau Senior Wellness Center in Ward 1.

More than 80 senior Washingtonians received actionable information and resources on how to age affordably, safely and with dignity in their homes and communities. Families, friends and community stakeholders gained access to vital government and non-profit resources targeting the housing needs of the aging population of the District. The Forum is the third in a series held by the Department in Wards throughout the District.

“In keeping with Mayor Bowser’s vision for an age-friendly DC, the Elder Housing Resource Forum addressed housing topics that are vital to District seniors; these topics included property tax services, emergency and affordable housing, and foreclosure mitigation and mediation,” said DISB Commissioner Stephen C. Taylor.

The Forum was presented in partnership with AARP Legal Counsel for the Elderly, DC Housing Finance Agency, Department of Housing and Community Development, Office of the Tenant Advocate, Housing Counseling Services, Inc. and Clergy for Community Wealth Preservation.
